WINTER
December through February
Your pots can still be full of life in the winter months.
WINTER TIPS
If you’ve already incorporated evergreens and cold hardy perennials into your Fall arrangements, you don’t need to do much! Check the health of your plants periodically and trim or remove anything that doesn’t look well. If there are holes in the arrangement and you can still find plants at your local garden center to fill them, do so. Otherwise, try some wintry picks – pine cones and berries for a natural aesthetic, shiny ornaments and sparkly sprays for a festive touch – to fill the gaps.
If you’re starting fresh with an empty pot for the season, try creating an outdoor “floral” arrangement by inserting lots of cut evergreen branches into densely packed potting mix to form a lush mound of greenery. Add white birch poles for structure or thin, bare branches for a light and airy extension of your silhouette. Decorative picks and vibrant bows will break up your greenery and give you a festive look that can be removed after the holidays.
